PRODUCT DISCLOSURE $
I have a Surface that came with the 30-Day Trial of Office Home Premium. I clicked on it, but now see it won't fit my needs. I'd like to try the 30-day Office Small Business trial, but downloading that from the website gave me a 4-day warning to activate. I'm less than a week into the 30-day window of Home Premium.
Microsoft Office is a standalone productivity suite offered only as a one-time purchase, while Microsoft Office 365 is a cloud-based subscription service that offers the same apps available with Office 2019, but with additional tools and benefits. If you'd like to try Microsoft Office but aren't sure you're ready to commit, download the Microsoft Office 365 free trial and use Microsoft Office for free for one month.
What You Get With Your Microsoft Office 365 Free Trial
A free trial of Microsoft Office 365 offers all the components of the Office suite, including Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Word. The Office applications can be installed on up to five computers at once, whether they are PCs or Macs.
An Office 365 subscription also includes apps to edit Microsoft Office files on mobile devices. Android and Windows phones and tablets, as well as the iPhone and iPad, are supported. Microsoft Office 365 can be installed on five tablets and five smartphones, as well.
If you want a permanent free productivity suite, check out a free Microsoft Office alternative for your word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation needs.

Cancel Your Microsoft Office 365 Free Trial
Cancel your Microsoft Office 365 subscription before your free trial is over if you don't want to continue using the products. You can do this any time during the trial period and the software will work until the expiration date.

Internet access is required to install and activate all the latest releases of Office suites and all Office 365 subscription plans. For Office 365 plans, Internet access is also needed to manage your subscription account, for example to install Office on other PCs or to change billing options. Internet access is also required to access documents stored on OneDrive, unless you install the OneDrive desktop app. You should also connect to the Internet regularly to keep your version of Office up to date and benefit from automatic upgrades. If you do not connect to the Internet at least every 31 days, your applications will go into reduced functionality mode, which means that you can view or print your documents, but cannot edit the documents or create new ones. To reactivate your Office applications, reconnect to the Internet. You do not need to be connected to the Internet to use the Office applications, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, because the applications are fully installed on your computer.
